- Having looked at the plans The first thing I object to is the new bigger Morrisons supermarket which I feel is not required in Bishopbriggs as there are ample supermarkets in the surrounding area to fulfilll the shopping needs of the town.
The 2 retail units being developed out of the current Morrisons store are not required as I cannot see any company wishing to move into either of them not just in the present financial climate but under any circumstances. The retail park has many empty units and getting change of use consent for these to enable the retail park to be fully occupied would be much more suitable. If a larger Morrisons is needed why can't it relocate into the empty Hombase unit at the retail park.
We wouldn't have had this problem if the LIB Dems had listened to the wishes of the population of Bishopbriggs to site the new school on the site of Bishopbriggs High School
The demolition of a valuable sports facility which would be a total waste of public money in a time when we are supposed to be encouraging our children to exercise as there is an ever increasing spiral of childhood obesity should be seen as a criminal act.
I don't object to the chapel being relocated but I do object to the 2 sandstone properties being demolished to make way for this.
I am guessing that the exit from the car park into South Crosshill Road will be controlled by traffic lights which will cause terrible congestion as they will no doubt be unable to get the 2 sets of lights synchronised to enable the traffic to flow effectively. I feel that if south crosshill Road is busy the traffic leaving the car park will go into Boclair Crescent and then into the part of Wester Cleddens Road which doesn't have a pavement creating a dangerous situation in narrow roads not suitable for heavy traffic and will be a danger to pedestrians.
- Well what can I say about the plan except that I am very much against it. After all the carry on about the new school being built on the site then the council decide to relocate it up the other end of Bishopbriggs which is only building an even bigger divide between the Roman Catholic school and Non Denominational school and yet they say we should all get along. Now they want to build another supermarket are they just out to insult our intelligence altogether we don't need a bigger Morrisons in Bishopbriggs we need things for the younger generation. We have enough supermarkets in Bishopbriggs.
- The consequences of the John Morrison led Lib Dem deal regarding siting the new amalgamated Briggs Academy in Woodhilll has enabled the council to sell two thirds of prime public land to developers which can never be recovered. This land will only be used to best maximize private profit with no regard to the wishes or needs of the community of Bishopbriggs
- Having been through this three times before and only once been successful the more support we have the better. if there is a petition of any sort then all parents can get involved, on behalf of supporting the health and well being of youngsters and the community. You only have to read the highlights of the medical literature to appreciate the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and poor mental health which is rampant and can be reversed by exercise.
- If there is no petition does anyone have experience or know a lawyer that can help? We could always contact the young lady that dumped green custard on Lord Peter M yesterday!
- What is proposed is basically a huge commercial development surrounded by housing with little thought for community facilities. I got the impression that it will be very difficult to persuade them to make any changes but I suppose that if enough people are in favour of change and make their voices heard then it might be possible.
- As well as the loss of the games hall it looks to me that the two impressive sandstone villas at the corner of South Crosshill Road (the priest’s house and the NHS clinic) will be demolished.
- For what its worth, I would emphasise that to have built the facility in the past few years and then demolish it is a waste of tax payer's money. I would have thought that, given that some of the outside pitch area could also be utilised or redeveloped, the current hall and the area behind the school could be easily converted into a general indoor and outdoor sports facility as Bishopbriggs doesn't have a facility to match either the Science Park or Merkland.
